"So, why are you buying me clothes at the Big & Tall store anyway?"

Warning Over Fake Tickets
Reason

Festival Republic, the company behind both Reading and Leeds Festivals have again issued a plea to music fans to beware of scam sites and bogus facebook groups.
With the festival tickets season now in full swing, and some of the major UK festivals such as Reading Festival, Leeds Festival, T in the Park and V Festival already sold out - organisers are urging fans to be on full alert when purchasing tickets and to avoid being scammed by unscrupulous con-men.
In the past week alone two facebook groups have been shut-down after being setup offering non-existent free tickets.
The groups were used instead to harvest user data, such as email addresses, for phishing attacks, and directing unsuspecting music fans to bogus websites to purchase tickets. Tickets, which of course, do not exist.
In a statement, Festival Republic says, "Please do not register with any third party claiming to represent Reading and Leeds Festival, if you are unsure please call the information line 0207 009 3001.
In an effort to ensure fans don't get scammed, Festival Republic have partnered with ticket exchange site Viagogo to be it's official ticket exchange partner for Reading, Leeds and Latitude Festivals in 2010.
"Viagogo has helped us all but eliminate the issues that we have had in the past with fans taking their chances online and being disappointed after ‘buying’ non-existent resale tickets," said Melvin Benn, Managing Director of Festival Republic.
“We are working with Viagogo again this year as the only recommended and official ticket exchange for the Reading, Leeds, and Latitude festivals.”
Ed Parkinson, Director of Viagogo UK added:
"We are delighted to be working with Festival Republic again in 2010. We are committed to helping the festival organisers provide a safe and secure place for their fans to buy and sell tickets and protect them from rogue websites and online scams.”

Reunited Libertines Play Reading And Leeds
Reason
Posted by:
festivalmusic
Guns n' Roses, Arcade Fire, and Blink-182 will headline the 2010 Reading and Leeds festivals, scheduled for August 27-29, according to a March 29 announcement.
Also in the lineup are The Libertines, set to perform together for the first time in six years, as well as Weezer, Paramore, Modest Mouse, Queens of the Stone Age, LCD Soundsystem, and Phoenix.
A spokesman for the Festival said: "These will be The Libertines' ONLY gigs worldwide and are unmissable for any music fan."
Guns n' Roses will headline the Reading Festival on August 27 and the Leeds Festival on August 29, while Arcade Fire will will headline the opening day at Leeds and the second night at Reading.
Although legendary rockers Guns N' Roses are still fronted by AXL ROSE the rest of the original line-up - including guitarist SLASH - will NOT be performing. They have been replaced by a completely new band.
The gig will mark GNR's first ever Reading appearance, although they headlined the Leeds leg in 2002.
Blink-182 will play second night of Leeds and the final night of Reading.
Other bands, including Weezer, Paramore, Cypress Hill, Limp Bizkit, and All Time Low, will make one appearance each at the two festivals.
The Libertines released two albums, 2002's Up the Bracket and 2004's The Libertines, before breaking up in 2004 due to disagreements between guitarist Pete Doherty and co-frontman Carl Barat.
Last May, three of four group members performed together during a concert by Doherty's band Babyshambles, suggesting that a reunion might be near.
Tickets are now on sale for both festivals, which take place simultaneously in the two UK cities and feature the same lineup.
The capacity is about 80,000 at the Reading site and about 70,000 at Leeds.

Now for something different...
Reason

festivalmusic
The Cornbury Festival is one-of-a-kind: an eclectic and eccentric musical carnival - a dynamic summer festival disguised as a country fayre - a lovingly crafted, top notch, very English open air party, tailor-made for the whole family.
Like the best of England, Cornbury is eccentric, charming and irresistible - a homespun melting pot where music-lovers share pies and a glass of champagne with superstars, toffs, rockers, crooners, Morris dancers, farmers, urbanites, fashionistas, gourmet chefs and the little old ladies who make exceptional cakes.
In short, The Cornbury Festival represents classic summer entertainment for a friendly crowd from all walks of life. A country fair with a rock ’n’ roll twist; a farmers’ market with a dancefloor; a magical local carnival with a classic contemporary soundtrack.
Cornbury Park is located on the edge of the Wychwood forest and was first mentioned in the Doomsday Book. The forest has been the site of festivals for centuries which drew crowds of 50,000 during their heyday in the mid-19th century.
Starting as a traditional fayre in 1796, the original festival became so successful (if somewhat riotous), that by 1830 it was so over subscribed that it had to be suspended. From 1845 to its final year in 1856 the festival attracted huge crowds and it was this popularity that finally caused its demise, although a local report in Jackson's Oxford Journal (Sept 1856) states ‘The fair was attended by an immense number of people, and we are glad to hear that no accident occurred to mar the happiness of the day.The fair offered unprecedented inducements but not a single case of delinquency has been officially reported.’
The Park boasts some interesting remnants of this era including a mysterious music stone.
The 17th century house at the centre of the estate, the home of Lord and Lady Rotherwick, provides a stunning backdrop for this music festival.
This year's festival takes place on the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of July. Click here to visit the site.

Download will organise 2010's 'Best Festival Ever'
Reason
Posted by:
Editor
Andy Copping hinted in his blog, published yesterday, that there would be more music legends to come and said they hoped Download 2010 will be “one of the greatest festivals of all time.”
Alongside AC/DC, Deftones, Them Crooked Vultures, Stone Temple Pilots, Megadeth, Motorhead, Wolfmother, Bullet For My Valentine and Volbeat were unveiled in the first Download line-up announcement on Monday.
“Well, (writes Andy), the first announcement is out there and the overall response has been amazing! You seem to like what I've booked more than me! Believe me, this is only the tip of the iceberg, as I've got lot more to come. OK, I may not be able to top AC/DC but the other bands I have up my sleeve, particularly the other two headliners, are right up with the giants of rock.
I did interviews with loads of radio and press people yesterday and today and I'm on a trip around the midlands tomorrow to do more interviews with the local press, radio and TV. Everyone wants to talk about DOWNLOAD and since AC/DC have confirmed they are playing the phone has been ringing off the hook!
I absolutely love DOWNLOAD and really can't wait for June to come along...can you imagine over 100,000 people going nuts at Donington this year? My God, it will be unbelievable!! John and his team have been working overtime to get everything in place and making all the relevant changes etc to make DOWNLOAD 2010 one of the greatest festivals of all time.”

Bloodstock 2010
Reason

Finnish folk metallers Korpiklaani, and crazy costumed American thrashers GWAR are the latest acts to be confirmed for next year's Bloodstock Open Air festival.
Korpiklaani last played Bloodstock in 2007. The band's Sunday appearance at the festival will be the band's only UK show in 2010. They are eagerly anticipating their return to the Bloodstock stage, saying "We are very glad to get a chance to play in Bloodstock Open Air again after few years. Last time was our first festival in England and the audience was wild and good as always there. We are looking forward to the festival very much already, and we hope there is enough cold beer like the last time."
After being forced to pull out in 2009, GWAR have been confirmed as making an exclusive appearance on the Saturday of the festival next year.
They join a line-up that will include established and unsigned metal bands with Obituary, Suffocation, Leaves Eyes, Doro, Devin Townsend, and Behemoth playing UK festival exclusives, as well as Cannibal Corpse, Dream Evil, Andromeda, Ross The Boss, and Rage. For the line-up details, and rumours as available please click here.
Bloodstock will take place from Friday 13th until Sunday 15th August 2010 at Catton Hall, Walton-on-Trent, in South Derbyshire. The aim is to offer a traditional metal event comparable to those regularly seen in Europe (but on a smaller scale of 6,000-10,000 capacity), and capturing the spirit of the original Monsters Of Rock shows which used to take place at Castle Donington during the 1980's and 1990's.
As well as the international heavy metal bands across three stages, Bloodstock offers a large selection of merchandise stalls, metal karaoke, a campsite and a wide selection of food and bars.
Early bird tickets are available until Christmas and include camping priced at £89.95 for adults and £39.95 for children, and £30 for a campervan ticket, and £10 for a car parking pass. Day tickets are expected to be on sale at a later date. To buy tickets, click here.
